Why do I need a home visit?

Current healthcare practice leaves little room for real interaction between healthcare provider and patient. In the typical office a patient visit is 15 minutes with a provider leaving little time for in-depth discussion, education and questions during their visit. This conveyor belt type of visit, which unfortunately has become standard,  often misses the opportunity for wellness altogether.

Visits are normally held during traditional office hours (9am-5pm). After-hours usually result in passing the buck of your health to the emergency room, especially if there was no evening urgent care available. If you tried to get an appointment to see your primary care physician, you may have a wait time of several days, meaning your problem could have potentially worsened or developed into something more serious.

Home visits with Kumuda enable us to deliver a level of care that is not possible in an office setting. We are able to spend as much time as needed with you in your own home to make sure you get the attention you need, understand the medication that’s been prescribed, and know how to use your medical equipment. We have the opportunity to develop this relationship with our patients and are able to supplement your care with additional resources. We simply provide the care and resources you need.

This holistic approach to healthcare means Kumuda is always a natural fit for you. You get a personal, up-close, intimate relationship with us. There is a lot of education and coaching we can do in the home. We can discuss everything from the food in your pantry to the medicine on your shelf.

Sometimes there is a lapse in your healthcare because you don’’t have a reliable primary care provider or you are unable to meet with with your primary care provider on short notice. Other times, you may have five specialists and have no primary care provider. So, in the provision of home care, Kumuda will focus on tying those strings together into a coherent healthcare plan.

Whether you are having a problem with insulin management or experiencing abdominal pain, we are able to assess, order lab tests, diagnose and prescribe medication, and care for a wide range of acute issues in the home allowing our patients to avoid inconvenient and costly hospital visits. Our ability to provide home-based care achieves more than just reducing expensive ER visits – we aim to prevent them in the first place.
